C.L.T. : An innovative material and a wooden construction system of the future

C.L.T. or Cross Laminated Timber is a self-supporting panel of laminated wood. Since its invention more than 25 years ago in Austria, the C.L.T. continues to prove itself in the world; which makes it the most used wood in constructions in Europe.

C.L.T. is in the form of multilayer panels, assembly of laminated solid wood planks. They are crossed at 90° and glued to one another. This improves the rigidity and stability of the panel. The thickness of a panel can vary from 60 to 320 mm and up to 14 m in length.

Being flexible and light (five times lighter than conventional concrete), the C.L.T. is much more favorable to high buildings.

  C.L.T. optimizes the living space while keeping the external dimensions thanks to its high resistance to the load and its lightness which makes it possible to use a less thick components for large litters.

  C.L.T. is a good thermal insulator with a thermal conductivity of 0.13 W / (m.k) The wood allows a good acoustic attenuation. And thanks to its porous structure, it has a high sound absorption coefficient.
